English, Dance and Theatre-Arts Teacher
Mrs. Peterson was raised on the dance floor, spending her life specializing in her passion of the Fine Arts. Continuously involved in interdisciplinary performances, she exposed herself to not only the dance world, but theatre-arts and music. She performed on multiple stages as both a performer and director; her most memorable moments include collaborating with the Calgary Jazz Orchestra and Lethbridge Symphony to create a fusion of live music and dance. She made it her priority to invest in a diverse range of Fine Arts fields so she may reach her dream-career of a teacher. Mrs. Peterson attended the University of Calgary where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in dance with distinction, specializing in choreography and performance. Throughout her schooling, she danced professionally alongside companies and independent artists where she performed as a jazz, modern and Ukrainian dancer. She chose to direct shows which challenged her to work with a diverse range of talents such as silk contortionists and opera singers. Mrs. Peterson has been an artistic director on both competitive and conservatory productions such as her proudest choreographic accomplishments with Danceworks Dance Academy. She continued her education at the University of Lethbridge where she achieved her Bachelor of Education in English and drama with great distinction, taking a special interest in linguistics, directing and dramaturgy. She continued instilling her passions through teaching in both Lethbridge and Calgary high schools. She now adores her teaching career at McCoy High School where she explores her love of the arts as an English, theatre-arts, and dance teacher amongst a highly supportive and caring staff.
